Anti-Nausea Glycerite
Anti-Nausea Glycerite
Traditionally used to calm nausea, vomiting and relieve food stagnation.
This tasty glycerite syrup is based on the Classical Chinese herbal formula Gan Jiang Ren Shen Ban Xia Wan. This formula was first described for use in the Chinese Medicine source text Jin Gui Yao Lue, thousands of years ago. It is traditionally used to calm symptoms of nausea and vomiting. It formula works by increasing blood flow to the digestive tract and warming the stomach and spleen, allowing the stomach energy to descend. According to the principles of Chinese Medicine, when stomach energy can descend appropriately the body does not experience nausea and vomiting. This formula has additional herbs added to help relieve symptoms of food stagnation such as bloating, sour stomach and feelings of uncomfortable fullness after eating. The ginger in this formula helps to warm the spleen and stomach, increasing blood flow and supporting digestion. The pinellia helps to eliminate stagnant dampness from the body and draw digestive energy downward, to restore it's proper movement. The codonopsis and ginseng help to generate and restore healthy body fluid, vital during pregnancy and after one has experienced nausea and vomiting. Contrary to popular belief, ginseng is not a stimulant and is safe to take as needed at any time during the day or night, it simply supports overall health and vitality of the body and body fluid. Together, these herbs have the synergistic effect of creating comfortable, calm and healthy digestion. The Poria in this formula helps to dry dampness in the body and helps to kick-start the spleen’s ability to transform dampness and keep it from coming back. Chinese Medicine views Dampness (stagnant, accumulated, turbid body fluid) in the upper digestive tract as a major cause of nausea. Tangerine Peel is a tasty, aromatic herb that helps to descend stomach qi and send the energy of the GI in the right, downward direction to relieve symptoms of food stagnation such as bloating, belching, and uncomfortable fullness of the stomach.
We’ve been told that this formula tastes like marshmallows, so it’s easy to dispense to kids for motion sickness or tummy troubles, it is traditionally used for pregnancy sickness, motion sickness, nervous/anxiety induced nausea, to help manage the nausea that results from other medications or medical treatments and so much else.
